With two starts in North America under her belt, LADY PANAME (FR) earned her first Graded Stakes win in the $400,000 G3 Long Island at Aqueduct.
Purchased from the 2017 Arqana Breeding Stock Sale, trainer Chad Brown and owners Madaket Stables, James Covello, Kent Spellman and Doheny Racing Stable showed patience when their new purchase suffered some issues right from the start. However, they’ve were rewarded as this 4yo filly closed out turf racing on the NYRA circuit with this impressive win.
“I got a perfect trip. She relaxed so well. She appreciated the distance. Last time she went a mile and a quarter- that’s not her. At Belmont she looked so good, but she improved today from the last race. Now in her second race, she was much better,” said jockey Irad Ortiz.
Chad Brown continued, “It just took her a little time to get here, and the patience by everyone involved was really rewarded today. I’m really proud of the horse.”
