BSW clients are represented in stakes races across the country this weekend as meets at both Del Mar and Saratoga draw to a close.
At Saratoga, G1 winner Yoshida (JPN) will be aiming to take down his second consecutive G1 Woodward on Saturday for owners China Horse Club, WinStar Farm and Head of Plains Partners. The Japanese-bred son of Heart’s Cry posted a career best 108 Beyer Speed Figure last time out when 2nd to McKinzie in the G1 Whitney.
One race prior to the Woodward, BSW public auction purchase, Empressof the Nile, will be looking for her second win of the meet, this time trying to earn a first graded stakes success in the G2 Glens Falls. She got up to win by a beck in an allowance race in early August for owners Madaket Stables LLC, Manganaro Bloodstock and Rob Masiello.
Earlier on in the card, G3 winner Royal Charlotte, a BSW Bloodstock public auction purchase, sourced by Liz Crow on behalf of First Row Partners, will take her spot in the gate for the G2 Prioress against fellow three year old fillies. The gray daughter of Cairo Prince is four for five lifetime, including her four length score in the G3 Victory Ride at Belmont Park.
On the west coast, Comical, a BSW private purchase for Madaket Stables, joining Gary Barber and original owners ERJ Racing, Dave Kenney and Westside Racing, Stable will take on G1 company in the Del Mar Debutante. The daughter of Into Mischief captured the G3 Schuylerville for this group on Saratoga’s opening day.
Also featuring on Saturday at Del Mar will be Elysea’s World, another BSW private purchase on behalf of Heider Family Stables and Madaket Stables, joining Abbondanza Racing, Chris Dunn and Jerry McClanahan, will head to post in the G2 John C. Mabee. The Irish-bred daughter of Champs Elysees is already a four time G3 winner.
BSW clients are also represented in stakes races on Saturday by Automate in the Gainesway Farm Juvenile at Kentucky Downs, Cairenn in the Old Dominion Overnight Handicap at Colonial, as well as The Quantico Kid in the Kitten’s Joy and Mercilla in the Virginia Oaks.
On Sunday, La Feve, a last out stakes winner at Woodbine in the Duchess, returns to the scene of the crime while looking to add to her resume in the La Lorgnette. La Feve was purchased BSW Bloodstock in conjunction with Mandore Agency on behalf of Madaket Stables, Robert LaPenta, Lindy Farms and Team Hanley.
Monday brings about the closing day for both Saratoga and Del Mar and BSW clients are likely to be heavy handed again on both coasts with a cast that includes Eight Rings, the likely favorite in the G1 Del Mar Futurity, and Gozilla in the G1 Hopeful, purchased by BSW on behalf of Gary Barber, joining original owner Zayat Stables. In the G2 Bernard Baruch, BSW clients will be represented by both Sacred Life and Olympico.
