A BSW private purchase in the spring of his four-year-old year on behalf of Head of Plains Partners, joining original owners Robert LaPenta and Southern Springs Stables, Whitmore sat a perfect trip out of the gate, tracking the leaders from a few lengths off the pace before launching his rally around the far turn.
The chestnut son of Breeders’ Cup Classic Champion Pleasantly Perfect ran right by the leaders and opened up a lead of two lengths before crossing the wire 3/4 of a length in front without much fuss. The win took Whitmore’s lifetime earnings over the $3 million mark while giving him his 14 win in 34 career starts.
